We, the Jordan family, are quite proud of the Barker Tavern, a place
that symbolizes more than just a casual fine dining establishment
within a treasured historical setting.
For
over twenty five years, the Jordan family has welcomed thousands
to the Barker Tavern. Fine foods and superior customer service
at the Barker Tavern have been the standard by which others are
measured.
In
this historic building, the heavy beams and wooden walls, once pierced
for portholes, bear witness to its use as a garrison house in 1676.
Part
of the original building is said to be the second oldest standing
house in the United States. Today, crackling fires, rustic yet
elegant décor and beautifully appointed tables embrace each
guest like an old friend.
When
Eli Jordan purchased the Barker Tavern in 1978, he knew exactly what
he wanted; To bring to his customers a memorable dining experience.
In Eli's mind, his guests are treasured and his employees
are family. He hires associates based on personality and a common
interest in customer service. Whether serving 200 guests at a spectacular
wedding reception, or the romantic couple celebrating their 30th
wedding anniversary, we treated each person with special care. We
will have it no other way.
